I’ve been to Banapple Katipunan branch few years ago and I was very impressed. So when their Gateway branch opened (if I’m not mistaken) last year, I really want dine at this branch. Didn’t have the chance to dine here until now since their restau's always full especially on weekends and nights.

So we went here last Sunday, at around 4-5 pm. There were a lot people inside but good thing, we were able to get a seat. The waitress were very accommodating and friendly. They assisted us with our seats.

Menu was handed upon seating.

It’s a pay first order so after choosing what to eat, we lined up to pay at the cashier. Place is bigger and spacious compared to their other branch but since there were a lot of people inside, place can get too crowded. What I didn’t like about the place is it’s too noisy for me. I can’t hear much of what the other person is saying. Can’t blame them as there were really a lot of people inside.

Here’s what we ordered:

Garlic Beef Tapa with Creamed parsley eggs (Php200)
“Tender beef tapa, fried in garlic pieces and paired with our special creamy eggs”

- Servings were surprisingly huge. Tapa is very soft and tasty. I liked their creamy eggs a lot!

Baked Creamy Cheesy Penne (Php215)
“A Well - loved dish of luscious white cheese sauce and meaty tomato sauce, with al dente penne pasta and sautéed Hungarian sausage”

- Perfectly baked with oozing mozzarella cheese on at the top. Totally yumyum! What I also llike about this meal is they really give you huge amount of servings that is worth of what you pay. This huge baked creamy pasta penne for Php215 ONLY!!! Super sulit! :)

Overall, I was satisfied with the dish we ate here at Banapple. Affordable and worth it! :) Definitely one of my faves! :)

I’ve been to Snack Shack more or less 5 times already since they opened a branch in Marikina last year. If I’m not mistaken, Snack Shack was first known as a burger joint in UP Diliman. It’s famous for its one of a kind burger patties as well as one of the most affordable quality burgers in the town.

Going to place isn’t really that hard.

Coming from Cubao, Katipunan or Marikina, just ride a jeep/fx with SSS sign and ask to be dropped off near Olopsc school. Snack Shack is located before/near Olopsc school.

Place is a bit small and sometimes crowded at times. I think it’s an eat-and-go-burger-stop since I don’t find myself sitting/tambay here for hours. Interiors are very simple and decent.

Menu is placed above the counters.

Prices are very affordable. It’s a pay first order and waiting time may take up to 15 minutes as your burgers are yet to be grilled.

Here’s what we ordered that time:

Quarter Pounder with cheese (Php70) plus cream cheese (Php20) add ons = (Php90)

- For a small tummy like me, quarter pounder’s serving size is already enough for me. Add ons of cream cheese is the best!

Quarter Pounder with Cheese (Php70) plus Garlic Ranch (Php20) and Bacon (Php30) = (Php120)

Bacon N’ Fries (Php50)

- Their fried bacon is very crispy and perfect with the fries.

Definitely one of the most affordable, quality grilled burgers in town! :)

One of my good friends been suggesting, for the longest time, to try Alexei’s Diner & Café along Engineering Road in Marikina. So last Sunday, we finally went and ate at this place. I just knew that this place is along the engineering road in Marikina but not the exact place itself.

We rode a jeepney going to “Parang” in Sportscenter. You can also ride any jeepney going to this place in front of EGS/Robinsons Supermarket near Blue Wave Mall. We got off somewhere between EGS and before the jeep turns left. At first I thought we got off the wrong place as I didn’t see any restaurants anywhere. But when I looked up, there is this auto shop/carwash? Along with Alexei’s signage board. It’s really a hidden place at engineering road.

We got inside and surprised to saw a restaurant inside. It’s a very nice spacious diner place in a car wash compound. We seated upstairs as there were a lot of people dining on the first floor.
Upstairs, I was able to appreciate the interiors a lot.

They have this nice clock on the other side of the wall.

Here’s the top view of the resto:

Menu was handed over as we seated. They have variety of meals and drinks to choose from.

Here’s what we ordered:

Bacon Alfredo

- This pasta comes along with 2 garlic breads. Servings given were really a lot! Not to mention that they gave us huge amounts of bacon. As in “di ka talaga tinipid sa bacon”. Not to mention that even their crunchy bacon tastes so good.

Seafood Marinara

- This also comes with 2 garlic breads. I find their seafood marinara a bit sour, maybe because of the tomato (I don’t like red pastas or too much tomato sauce). Though my friend quite enjoyed this meal.

Strawberries and Cream (Php115)

- Totally yummy! I’m not sure if this there real strawberries included but it tastes like real strawberry milkshake, just a bit sour (maybe because of the yoghurt?). But it’s really delish!!

San Miguel Super Dry (Php60)

Overall, there are still a lot of foods I wanna try at Alexei’s Diner & Cafe. Will definitely come back for more! :))

After eating at Brickfire in Katipunan, me and my friend were looking for a chill spot. I was craving for coffee frappe that time and this came up!
Place is really nice and has great ambiance. That time, we opted to sit outside since it seems a bit hot  inside.

Anyway, I ordered their Toffee Nut Ice Blended®. I find this too sweet for my taste but still yummy.

Was able to make tambay here til 12md. Good frappes & nice place. Might come back here sometime soon! :)

Katipunan area is known to have lots of restaurants and foodie stop ever since before. Since this place is near my home, been going to this area a lot of times (especially when I was in high school when I took advance classes every summer or review for entrance exams) but wasn’t able to explore this area well.

If you have read my previous posts, I mentioned that I want to expand my food journey starting with Katipunan, UP Town and/or Maginhawa St. So I invited one of my friends for a food trip in Katipunan.

Let’s start with Brickfire, located at 2nd flr Xavier Residence, near/at the back of McDo Katipunan. Brickfire has variety of foods, mainly steaks but they also serve breakfast meals, burgers and pasta. As the name itself, place is brick themed and very Western. Waiters were very accommodating as they greeted us upon entering and assisted us with our seats.

I haven’t seen the menu before we went here so I was surprised that their foods are very affordable. Actually, I really wanna try their pasta but since it’s a steakhouse resto, of course I ordered their steak instead. Haha

Here’s what we ordered:

Cowgirl Annie in Honey Mustard 220g with Rice (Php164)

- I’m not a fan of steaks but this is soooo good! My friend actually suggested for the doneness to be “Medium Well” since “Well done” would make the steak hard to slice or chew. I don’t usually eat steaks so I didn’t know this but good thing, Ilistened. :) The meat was soft, juicy and easy to chew. The sauce along with the corn and carrots, made the meat yummy! I was quite surprised that the servings given was huge given the price of Php164 only!! Actually, I wasn’t able to finish the steak since I was already full.

The Duke (Tenderloin)

- According to my friend, this steak is soft as this one’s tenderloin. “Though, hindi ata medium well yung luto naging medium rare, medyo rare pa yung ibang parts pero oks naman hindi lasang hilaw.” My friend also thinks that maybe they lack more veggies/sides included. Though everything’s worth it for the price.

But overall, my experience with Brickfire is really nice. Very affordable and totally recommended steaks! :)

This is the Part III and the last part of my food trip with Jumi and Chad.

After eating a hefty meal at Sano Ramen, we decided to look for desserts and a place to hang out. We went at Breaks and Shakes in Sapphire St. as I suggested.

Breaks and Shakes
offer meals, pastas and the best milkshakes!! Located at Sapphire St (near St Paul Parish) I already dined at this place a few weeks ago and was very impressed so I suggested that we hang out at Breaks and Shakes after we ate our dinner. Luckily, we were the only customers at that time.

**took more decent-high-quality-night-time-photos since I brought my cam this time**

Here’s the menu:

Here’s what we ordered:

Cookies and Cream Milkshake with Whipped Cream

Green Tea Milkshake

Pistachio Milkshake

Originally, I wanna order their Coffee Almond Fudge Milkshake which I ordered before but I was informed that it was already out of stock. :( I got the Cookies and Cream Milkshake and it was also soooo good! (But still, Coffee Almond Fudge is the best!!) Haha

I also took a sip at Chad’s Green Tea Milkshake and I love the Green Tea milkshake which is not too sweet (I love matchas/green tea and not too sweet foods/drinks).

Pistachio Milkshake was good too! :))

Chad had a little presentation he shared with us. After that, we played this game and Monopoly Deal in which I surprisingly won! Even though I was the most inattentive and uninterested at first (I was already too sleepy at that time since I had a night shift earlier and had 3-4 hours of sleep only). Haha

(PHOTO SPAM ALERT!!!!)

(Had fun trying my camera’s smile detection feature.. See me smile and laugh, which I rarely do post haha)
Thank you Breaks and Shakes for the milkshakes, games and great place! :)
