Having an oily skin is really tough especially when it comes to maintaining a make up. There are pros and cons in having an oily skin. My face usually oils up 1 hour after I put on my makeup. Usually I do wash my face after an 8 hour shift and put on another makeup for the next 8 hour shift. (I usually work 16 hour shift per day). I always have to do this since after 4-5 hours of wearing makeup, my face oils up a lot. I remembered as one of my friends at work once told me, “Ayy oily ka pala.. Akala ko sadyang makeup lang un shiny/oily face.. Parang sa korea. Akala ko dewy look lang”. Yes, I think I may live up to the natural-dewy-look-trend but I hate it when my face oils up :(

It was in 2015/2016 when I first got interested with beauty, makeup and blogging that I came across the Quickfx No Shine Mattifier which many raved about. I got my first sachet at the nearest Watson’s in my place. I believe it was always out of stock before but glad that they are widely available now departments stores and Watson's.

Quick FX No Shine Mattifier  absorbs oil to control shine for a smooth and matte finish, and conceals fine lines and pores for visibly radiant skin instantly! It helps to hide imperfections such as fine lines and pores while providing an exceptional smooth matte finish. It also helps prevent and treat pimples without drying the skin. It has Salicylic acid, chamomile, tea tree extract and matte wax. I know for sure that Salicylic acid and tee tree are good for pimples.

It comes in a 10g sachet (Php89) and 30g tube (Php279). Glad that they finally launched the tube size last year. I immediately bought it the after they announced the new packaging. haha Though I used the sachet one for a year or so and I can easily finish 1 sachet in 1-2 months. I still use the first tube I bought last  June 2017 with at least 4-5x uses in a month. (I only use this when I go out or if I have an event to attend to.)

I'm not sure if they changed the formula now since the new version's consistency reminds me paste and the scent smells different. Though it's still the same when it comes to oil control. I also noticed that I need to apply more product than the usual compared to the old version wherein a little goes a long way.
NEW FORMULA:

OLD FORMULA:

It feels powdery, smooth and matte when applied on the skin.

How to Use:

After washing my face, I put on 2-3 pea sized cream on my forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. It also helps to cover the huge pores on my nose and other parts.

Review:

Here’s 12 hours after WITHOUT using Quickfx:

vs. 12 hours WITH Quickfx:

These photos are my everyday makeup look 12 hours after I applied Maybelline FIt Me! Foundation. Pleas take note that I'm working on an air conditioned environment. I don’t know if you can see the difference in the photos but I think Quick FX was able to limit the oil on my face for 12 hours. Yes, it is still oily but not “that” oily compared without the product itself.

Watch my video review on my Youtube Channel below:

Pro’s:
 - Matte and smooth on skin
- Non greasy, very light on the face
- Good oil control
- Made my foundation/makeup last longer
- Easy to put on your kikay kit
- Affordable for a primer

Cons:
- None

Been using this primer for years already and I can say that this product really works well on my oil skin. It was able to hold my makeup and prevents oil for more than 12 hours. I prefer the tube since it really last long for me (been using the same tube for 10 months already with 5-6x a use per month). I prefer not to use this everyday (because I'm very matipid haha) and to let my skin breath from primers. I'm still trying other affordable primers on the market but so far this is the best and affordable one for me.

How about you? Have you used this product? What do you think about it? Let me know your thoughts below. :)
I'm not a fan of using lip sticks not until I first tried applying one in 2016. Yes, you heard it right. I'm more of a lip tint girl before and I never bought lip stick until I bought one from Maybelline brand which is the famous Touch of Spice and Divine Wine shade. Wowed that these made me look like a different person and ever since, I got in love with lip sticks.

Fast forward to 2018 wherein I now collect Maybelline lip sticks in nude and red shades. Though still trying not to hoard that much since sometimes I feel bad for only using those on special occasions since they're truly precious lip sticks for me. Haha Maybelline expands their lip stick shades every year and it gets better! If only I can buy all the shades I like! haha But today, I'll be sharing my 3 favorite shades that I've been using since last year.

It was around September 2017 when I bought the Maybelline Toasted Brown (The Powder Mattes), Rosewood Red (The Powder Mattes) and Chili Nude (The Creamy Mattes) and since then they've been my ultimate go-to and favorite shades!

Toasted Brown - warm nude shade with a hint of peachy tone. I like using this when I got to our head office or for interviews for that subtle makeup look. It's also a good everyday lipstick.

Rosewood Red - deep reddish with a hint of dark purple shade. I prefer using this during casual days and I always get compliments when I use this shade. I love dark red shades as I think it compliments my skin tone well. I also prefer wearing this as an ombre lip instead.

Chili Nude - bright peachy shade but can be nude peachy when used as an ombre instead. I prefer using this when I feel so positive and bright. Haha Sometimes, I also like to combine other shades with this one because I think it compliments brown or red shades well. It's a perfect peachy shade especially this summer!

The creamiest and easiest to apply is the Toasted Brown even though it's under the Powder Matte lines. The Chili Nude also is easy to apply and glides well on the lips. Even though Rosewood Red is under The Powder Matte, I don't know why at times it's making my lips drier when I apply this shade. All shades are highly pigmented that's why I only apply small amount then spread it using my fingers for that ombre lips. Though I prefer using full lip on Toasted Brown shade. All feels comfortable on the lips and non drying. Depending on my lips, sometimes it's matte finish at times it's little satin finish.

Since I've already used this a lot, the longevity depends but it's wearable up to 8 hours without retouch with minimal eating and drinking.

Regular price are Php299/each but I think I bought mine during the sale (Php199/each). Maybelline always has a sale so better wait for it and buy these at sale price instead.

Until now, I still have these lip sticks since again, I'm only using these during special occasions or events. Will definitely recommend this shade and even this line to every girls who love affordable lip sticks. They have great selection of shades at an affordable price. Will definitely buy this again and recommend Maybelline. :)

How about you? Have you used this product? What do you think about it? Let me know your thoughts below. :)
These past few months, you might notice that I've been consistently using different whitening soaps for my face and body. And you've been following me blog and Youtube channel, you might also notice that do I truly use these products. And for that record, I do whitening reviews for that past 2 years and I make sure to use every product that I share for 1-2 months before I come with a product review. At times, it taking me too long before I come up with a review because I'm too busy with work and life. You may notice that I lacked reviews for the last few months of 2017 but now I'm finally back. I've been consistently posting my late reviews for the products I've used.

ON HAVING PIMPLE PRONE SKIN: Having an acne-prone and sensitive skin can be so frustrating especially when you're battling with it since teenage years. One of my dreams is to have a clear skin but since I usually get hormonal pimples, it is still not possible. I'm still battling with hormonal breakouts especially when it's the time of the month but I'm glad that it's now manageable compared before. My skin may look flawless on camera but behind that, I still have lots of blemishes and red marks.

ON WHITENING: When it comes to skin whitening, I always and HIGHLY RECOMMEND using whitening soaps instead as I believe it gives a permanent result. Also, been using whitening soaps since 2012 so I truly believe in using soaps for whitening instead. Today, I'll be sharing another whitening soap and cream that I used for about 1-2 months (February to March 2018) and still currently using.

Last January 2018, I got a chance to try another whitening soap and a cream from the brand/company SCT. SCT or Sky Cloud Trading is an online shop which sells all natural and hand crafted soaps made in the Philippines. I've already tried some of their soaps like the GLUTA KOJIC ULTRA WHITENING SOAP, GLUTATHIONE TEA TREE SOAP, GREEN PAPAYA TEA TREE NATURAL BLEACHING AND CLEANSING SOAP and KOJIC ACID TEA TREE SOAP. All are effective whitening soaps for me.

Let's start with the SoJoMi Gluta Kojic D'Arbutin Whitening Soap is a handcrafted, non-drying face and body whitening soap that is effective in the treatment and elimination of dry skin, freckles , acne scars, dark spots and skin disorders.

Packaging: This comes in a sealed green box. The soap itself is color white and wrapped in a paper.

Key Ingredients:  Glutathione, Kojic Acid, Alpha Arbutin, Virgin Coconut Oil, Palm Kernel Oil, Water Caustic Soda, Fragrance and Tea Tree Oil.

GLUTATHIONE (Power antioxidant | Effectively whitens the skin | Removes excess skin pigments | Refines stretch marks | Helps make skin glow | Repairs sun-damaged skin | Makes skin smoother and clearer)

KOJIC ACID (Helps remove dead skin cells| All-Natural compound derived from mushrooms | Helps to remove melasma | Treats skin hyper pigmentation | Skin natural antibacterial agent)

ALPHA ARBUTIN (Eliminates skin dryness | Removes freckles | Reduces moles | Lightens acne and pimple marks)

TEA TREE EXTRACT (Helps to cure ring worm, cold sore, psoriasis, cuts, scrapes, insect bites, chicken pox, warts, acne, skin blemishes, dark spots, pimple outburst and other skin disorders)

Weight: 135g

Price: Php149 at Lazada; Php99 at Shopee

Scent: Smells like a bleach for me

How to Use:
1. Wash your face with lukewarm water.
2. Lather the soap on hands then gently apply onto your skin and massage in circular motion. Avoid rubbing your skin too hard to avoid skin damage and darkening due to friction.
3. Leave it for 2-3 minutes and rinse off. Rinse with cold water.
4. Apply toner or moisturizer afterwards.

Next is their SoJoMi D'Arbutin Whitening Cream which is a non-drying whitening face cream that is effective in the treatment and elimination of dry skin, freckles, acne scars, dark spots and skin disorders.

Key Ingredients: Alpha Arbutin, Glutathione, Kojic Acid, Cetyl Stearyl, Glyceryl Monostearate, Fragrance Essential Oil, Distilled Water and Phenoxyethanol.

GLUTATHIONE (Power antioxidant | Effectively whitens the skin | Removes excess skin pigments | Refines stretch marks | Helps make skin glow | Repairs sun-damaged skin | Makes skin smoother and clearer)

KOJIC ACID (Helps remove dead skin cells| All-Natural compound derived from mushrooms | Helps to remove melasma | Treats skin hyper pigmentation | Skin natural antibacterial agent)

ALPHA ARBUTIN (Eliminates skin dryness | Removes freckles | Reduces moles | Lightens acne and pimple marks)

Packaging: This comes in a sealed green box. The product in a small but sleek black tub.

Weight: 50ml

Price: Php199 at Lazada; Php149 at Shopee

Consistency: Thick and sticky cream.

Scent: Smells like bleach to me.

How to Use:
1. After using the SoJoMi Gluta Kojic D'Arbutin Soap, apply the cream all over the face and and neck in upward motion.
2. Use it ideally in the morning and/or before bedtime.
3. Avoid too much exposure to the sun to see faster results.

Initial results will be noticed after 5-7 days. It normally take at least 8 weeks before to see the results. Use it once/twice a day ideally during bathing and before bedtime to delicately clean your skin especially your face to avoid acne/pimples. Also, micro peeling is common as this is a side effect of the Kojic Acid.

*Please take note:
- Strictly DO NOT USE SCT / SoJoMi on your face with other brands to avoid skin disorders and breakouts.
- Use it once a day
- Alpha Arbutin is 2X more effective and more stable whitening ingredient than Kojic Acid

Review/result:

Pros:
- Effectively fades blemishes/pimple marks
- Lightens the skin tone in a month of use
- Dries up pimples faster
- Smooth ens the skin
- Not drying on the skin
- Can be used everyday
- No breakouts

Cons:
- No spatula
- Micro peeling effect for a few days (which is normal)

Been using the soap for my face and body (for 1-2 months) and I can say that it effectively lightens the blemishes my my body skin tone in a month of use. No breakouts or dryness of the skin plus it also helps to smooth en the skin. I love how it effectively dries up and prevents pimples. There might be a micro peeling at the first few days of use. During those times, it recommended to use toner and moisturizer. I do hope that they'll include a spatula for the cream to easily apply the product. Overall, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product for all skin types especially for oily, acne prone and sensitive skin like mine.
